If you are considering purchasing a pre-engineered steel structure, you may have heard certain building announcements in the past few days. Perhaps you glanced at the television or the Internet, or heard on the radio… You have to call in very quickly to secure the deal, some of these commercials say. But are these advertisements for quality all-steel structures or low-priced economy styles?
It is true that at a fraction of the price of a standard building, superior all-steel buildings are being sold at competitive prices by very credible steel building fabricators and vendors. However, of much lower caliber are the cut-rate “economy” steel buildings. To begin with, commercial-grade, pre-fabricated, pre-engineered steel structures use a robust 26-gauge steel. “Economy” structures are made up of lighter, inferior, 29-gauge steel. This is not an acceptable gauge to design and then populate a pre-engineered steel building with. For such structures, the repair problems will be more significant than with 26-gauge pre-engineered buildings.
An example of such a structure is Quonset huts. Although the price of the Quonset hut may originally be low, the cost of insulating these buildings will push the price far above the affordable. Quonset steel buildings are considered faulty because cooling and heating expenditures over the useful life of the building will make this apparently “low cost” structure a very expensive purchase in the long run.
To decide which all-steel structure to opt for may be likened to choosing a good doctor. Would you rather an excellent doctor or a bargain doctor perform a surgical procedure on you? If you would rather receive great service and successful results then aim to talk to the highest quality building fabricator possible within your budget. There are no additional “brokering” expenses. Through the steel building company you actualize the blueprint and the rigging of your steel structure. Even though these manufacturers may not present you with the “cheapest” pre-engineered steel building, they will present the best value available today for a successful result. Be sure to confirm only premium grade materials are used and utilize only one company for the whole process of erecting your steel building.
