Before embarking on your pre-engineered steel structure project, you should consider the value of sound building erection practices. Guidelines and protection characteristics are applied by the Government and it is essential that you review your local codes before commencing your project, so that you can conform to them throughout each phase of construction.
For your new pre-engineered steel structure project it is vital that all hazards are minimized. It is essential that you and all other individuals at a construction location have a thorough knowledge of safety measures, including relevant Occupational Safety and Health Administration stipulations. Accident prevention training is an ongoing process, so whenever a new worker is hired, all health and safety plans should be reviewed with that individual.
You should inspect the job location for any aerial obstacles such as electrical lines. Power tools should all be working correctly and connected safely. Any digging on the site should be done only with recommended and sufficient support.
At an absolute minimum, protective wear should include hardhats, gloves, rubber soled shoes and eye protection. All equipment and tools should be of a very high grade. Ensure that cables on lifting machinery are intact and that there is no fraying. When machinery is in motion, do not allow any individual to be near the machine or underneath a load as it is being transported.
Before proceeding to the next building bay, always attach mainframes in conjunction with the girts and purlins when assembling any pre-engineered, pre-fabricated steel structure. Do not leave the project if structural frames are not braced or supported. Main building framing should not be cut at the site. Wind shoring should be installed as the designs suggest. While insulating the steel building do not tread on structural insulation or prop any items against or next to it. Ensure that building insulation remains dry at all times. Restrict contact with insulation materials by wearing gloves, dust masks and long-sleeved shirts.
Your workforce should be aware of the outside edge of the structure at all times when working on pre-engineered steel roofing. Rooftop panels need to be adjoined to the purlins and abutting panels in order to be safe to step on. To reach rooftop pieces that are not properly fastened, use properly positioned walk boards. Make it clear to your workforce that skylights should never be walked on. To ensure a safe working environment throughout all stages of your building project, adhere to the above rules as an absolute minimum. Use the steel building system
